We have some more crazy weather across the US today: An unprecedented blizzard is moving into the West, and California has received the first blizzard warning of its kind since 1989! Also, in the deep south, some serious heat has been scorching the area, with temperatures in some cities reaching highs in the 70s and even the 80s! Into the north, a massive snowstorm is moving through the Midwest, with over 820,000 people out of power in Michigan alone! The storm has also left a trail of disaster, dumping over 40 inches of snow in Wyoming and 32 more in Montana. Over 60 million people are in the path of the storm in the coming days, so if you are in that area, prepare! On another note, there was yet another shooting in Florida, after a 19-year-old gunman went on a shooting spree across Orange County which killed three people, including a 9-year-old girl and a journalist who was reporting on the shooting.

Today, the second and last palindrome day of the year (2/22), and there are some serious weather events happening: Firstly, the Midwest is in for a beating--of snow! Over 15 inches are expected in areas of Minnesota, and over 65 million people are under winter weather alerts. Over 500 flights have been canceled, and the storm's impacts will be felt across the entire country. The storm is affecting states from California to Maine, but the Upper Midwest are the ones who will be most battered. Also, Cyclone Freddy has been smashing Madagascar as a Category 1 hurricane, destroying towns and killing four. However, it is expected to move out of the area in the coming days and then hit Mozambique. On another note, the Israel-Palestine conflict has elevated again, with Israel killing eleven people in an army raid on the West Bank. Hundreds of others are still injured after Israel attacked the Palestinians, unprovoked.

We have a lot of news today, so let's dive in. A major winter storm is moving into the Midwestern US, with dangerous blizzard conditions coming into the Dakotas, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the New England area soon after. Over two feet of snow are expected in some areas across the northern US, so we'll be seeing some serious traffic jams; though the best thing to do during a winter storm is to just stay inside. Right now, Winter Storm Olive is pummeling the Pacific Northwest, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, and it will soon move east. So if you are in any of these areas, watch out! Also related to weather: Cyclone Freddy has made landfall as a Category 4, after smashing through Mauritius and the French territory of Réunion. It is currently pummeling Madagascar with 130+ mph winds, having already killed one person, and will move into Mozambique later this week. If you live in these affected areas, it might be wise to evacuate, but if it is too late for that, take shelter! Also, another earthquake has struck Turkey, just weeks after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Turkey-Syria border. Six people are dead and hundreds of others are injured after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake damaged homes and destroyed structures. Seismologists say that strong aftershocks like this can continue for weeks, months, or even years after the main earthquake, depending on how strong it was. On another note, the EPA has finally announced that they will send someone to check out the damage and threat to the environment and to people after a train carrying hazardous chemicals crashed in East Palestine, Ohio. Residents are reporting rashes, headaches, nausea, and other symptoms that may be related to the crash. Thousands of fish have been found dead in rivers, and some of the pollutants have even floated down the Ohio River all the way down to Missouri! Lastly, we have more bad news. Over 44 people are dead after torrential rain battered southern Brazil, specifically in the São Paulo state. Many cities have even canceled the celebration of Carnival, because of the landslides, floods, and serious damage to infrastructure. The area received over two months worth of rain in 24 hours, which was just too much for the ground to handle. In fact, officials of the area said that the death toll is likely to rise, since many people are still missing and they suspect that most of them are buried under the mud.

Happy Presidents' Day! However, we have only bad news today: There was yet another shooting last night in New Orleans, during a Mardi Gras celebration. One person is dead and four others are injured, after the gunman opened fire on a crowd on the street. Police say that a suspect is now in custody, but their motive is still unknown. On another note, another powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake has struck Turkey, killing three more people. However, it is still much smaller than the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the area two weeks ago, killing 46,000. Rescue efforts have now ended in multiple areas, since pretty much no one could still be alive after being trapped for so long under the rubble with no food or water.

We have some big political news today: China recently announced that they are considering sending lethal support to Russia, which sparked outrage from the international community. The UN immediately said that if China did that, they would be crossing a 'red line,' and the US warned everyone that China has also not given any apology for their spotted spy balloon. China is likely to go back on their decision and refuse to help Russia after this adverse response from the international community. Also, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has gone to Turkey and said that the US promises over $100 million more in aid after the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the area about two weeks ago. Over 46,000 people are dead, but people are still being rescued from the rubble.

A new update on the Turkey-Syria earthquake: Over 44,000 people have been killed in the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake, but survivors are still being found. After 248 hours trapped in the rubble, multiple people were rescued in Turkey, including two teenagers and a 30-year-old man. On another note, the Russo-Ukrainian War is still escalating, with Ukraine burning through ammunition extremely fast. NATO cannot make enough weapons to stop Russia, and Vladimir Putin recently announced that he will definitely not concede any land to Ukraine for a peace treaty. Lastly, Tesla is doing a HUGE recall. Over 350,000 vehicles are included in the recall, because of Tesla's faulty self-driving program. The program has caused multiple accidents because it makes some mistakes that require immediate driver control. If you have a Tesla, you may want to see if this new recall applies to you.

There was another shooting in El Paso, Texas, last night, where two suspected gunmen opened fire in a mall, killing 1 and injuring 3 others. This happened right next to a Walmart where an earlier shooting in 2019 killed 23 and injured over 25 others, just four years later. There have now been over 72 mass shootings this year, which is still greater than the number of days! No wonder Americans don't like being in a big public space anymore... On another note, the Treasury Department is in trouble. They are trying their hardest to stop the US from not being able to pay their bills, but if Congress doesn't address the issue soon, the US won't be able to pay their bills from July to September! They need to find a way to fix the issue, ASAP, or the Treasury will be in even bigger distress. Lastly, residents of East Palestine, Ohio, are also in some big trouble. About two weeks ago, a freight train carrying vinyl chloride, butyl acrylate, ethylhexyl acrylate, and ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (which are all industrial chemicals and possible carcinogens) derailed, sparking a massive poisonous blaze that is still burning. They evacuated the town, but those orders have now been lifted. Unfortunately, many residents have not returned, due to the environmental crisis. If one area is affected, the whole ecosystem is as well, and this a huge problem for the area. Thousands of poisoned fish have been found dead in surrounding rivers and lakes, and residents are scared that the water, air, or soil may be tainted with these hazardous chemicals.

She has to face off against former president Donald Trump, former vice president Mike Pence, and Florida governor Ron DeSantis to run as the Republican representative. Also, there have been some big show/movie announcements lately! A new teaser has been dropped for the popular show, Ted Lasso, with them announcing the return of the show with a Season 3 release in March. Ant-Man is coming back! Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes out on Friday in theaters! It is sure to be a game-changer for the Marvel series, with the mysterious Kang returning after his appearance in the TV show, Loki.

Happy Valentine's Day! There's a lot of news today, so let's get to it. First of all, there was another mass shooting last night at Michigan State University, killing three and injuring five others. The 43-year-old suspect has now died due to a self-inflicted gunshot, and had no relation to the school. Over 19,000 scared students were forced to hide in their dorms and take shelter during the campus sweep, as hundreds of armed policemen searched the grounds for the attacker. On another note, Cyclone Gabrielle struck New Zealand hard today, killing three people and destroying homes, schools, and businesses. In fact, they even declared a state of emergency, which has only happened two other times in its history. Over 225,000 people are still without power, and New Zealand is now starting their recovery from this massive storm. Lastly, if you see flowers or trees blooming early, especially on the East Coast, make sure to appreciate this early spring! Temperatures in the east have been much warmer than normal lately, sparking early blossoms from various plants. Just know that this early bloom is likely to continue and expand over the next month.

It was a tense game, but the Chiefs ended up winning by a field goal in the last eight seconds after the Eagles evened out the score late into the fourth quarter. Just imagine Donna Kelce: Cheering for Travis and comforting Jason. On another note, the death toll for the Turkey-Syria earthquake is still rising, and it has reached about 33,000 people now. However, nations like the US and India are still rushing to help, but the UN expects the death toll to top out at a grim milestone: about 50,000. Lastly, the US shot down yet another unidentified object over Lake Huron, which was reportedly the same object that they spotted over Montana. This is the fourth unidentified object to have been shot down so far, and they are all believed to be Chinese 'spy balloons.'
