Trump has been the frontrunner of the Republican party despite not attending a single GOP debate, but multiple Colorado residents made a case against him citing the 14th amendment. According to the amendment's insurrection clause, a candidate cannot run for office if they are in violation of that, and Trump happens to be due to the infamous January 6th riot from 2021. After this big of a case, it is now being sent to the United States Supreme Court, who will get the final say in what the entire country does- which could possibly disqualify Trump from running for the 2024 election in all states. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has just visited the United States, to bring up talks with not only US President Joe Biden, but the CEOs of companies like Tesla, Apple, Google, and Microsoft as well. Modi and Biden first talked about deepening defense relations with each other, and how India is trying to become less Russia-dependent, especially oil and military related. It is well known around the world that Russia is India's primary source of oil and arms, but Modi is trying to change that. Ever since Russia started the war against Ukraine, they have failed to deliver the arms that India needs, leading the South Asian country to start looking for other sources of these important resources. However, India continues to buy Russia's cheap oil while European countries impose more and more sanctions on the oil that comes from Russia. India understands that it may be trying to reduce its Russian dependence, but Russia has helped India through rough times in the past, so India cannot just simply abandon them. The main point is, both India and the US are reaching out to each other to develop a strong partnership, and improve relations between the countries. However, United States officials stated that this partnership would be slightly different to the US than others. The United States sees most partners as allies, but India will be more like an independent partnership for the US to have someone to rely on- not their ally. India has remained neutral in the Russia-Ukraine War, and it intends to stay that way. Becoming allies with the US could be detrimental to their relations with Russia and China, which India would not want. And when you add Pakistan into the mix, you can see that India is not in the best position- it is bordered to the west by a country who is constantly trying to take land from them in the north (Pakistan), it is bordered to the northeast by a country that has remained in conflict over borders since the 1950s (China), and heavily relies on a country that is failing to deliver the arms they need (Russia). This is why it is essential for these two countries to collaborate together, as it could be very good for both countries' economies and their defense relations, but India would still want to keep good relations with other countries as well. They also spoke about more partnerships in the technology sector, which is where the tech companies listed above came in. Most of those companies are trying to expand into the Indian market, which could be very beneficial. Right now, only one main electric car is on the market in India, the Tiago EV produced by Tata Motors, but Tesla is hoping to expand into the South Asian country as well. Since pollution is a huge problem in India's big cities, such as Delhi- which consistently remains as one of the worst cities in the world in terms of air quality- electric cars are an important piece of technology that could be very helpful to India. Over 80 people are confirmed dead and dozens of others were injured in Myanmar after an airstrike in the central Burmese region of Sagaing on Tuesday, according to a report from local officials. A spokesman for the military junta explained that the village had been holding a ceremony for the opening of an office of the local defense force. A jet came across the town and dropped a bomb on the town hall, where the ceremony was taking place. A little while later, a helicopter equipped with guns attacked the town for about 20 minutes, and then left. However, soon after, it came back to the town and fired again at anyone who was trying to help the injured or collect the dead. 80 people have been confirmed dead, but hundreds of others are feared to have been killed in the brutal attack. Sadly, violence in Myanmar is still escalating after the military seized power from the government in a coup in 2021, because people are fighting back. These individual militias can be found throughout Myanmar, and they are fighting against the military junta. Because of this, there are frequent airstrikes and bombings across the country, which unfortunately kill hundreds of innocent people. The military believes in a scorched-Earth tactic, which means they will sometimes obliterate entire villages to show that they are the ones in power, and it is useless to fight back. There have been over 600 attacks between when the military took power in 2021 and now, killing thousands of people, but the UN is trying to take action. They say that there has been a huge disregard for human rights in Myanmar, and it needs to stop. However, what they have already done is not enough to protect the 54 million people who live in the country; UN Member States need to help and take a lot more action to stop these horrible events.

The catastrophic implosion of the Titan, a Titanic touring submersible run by the company OceanGate Expeditions, has been worldwide breaking news for a week now, but the migrant ship off of the coast of Greece that sunk while carrying over 750 passengers is something no one has heard of. Let's dive in. On June 14, 2023, a Libyan migrant ship capsized off the coast of Greece, but no authority rushed in to help. Over 750 people from Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Palestine were onboard, and many of them are still missing. In fact, it was over 13 hours after the ship had been spotted that Greek officials came to tow the boat to the shore, but it ended up in a disaster. Some migrants onboard report that the ships towing them pulled too fast or swayed to the side, making the migrant boat capsize. Others say that when the Greek ships gave them supplies but didn't bring them to shore, this caused chaos as fights erupted to take the scarce supplies they had. However, the Hellenic Coast Guard denies this, but it was clear that they did the wrong thing. The boat was clearly overcrowded and on the brink of sinking, so Greek officials should have rushed in to tow the boat to shore safely. Later, after 82 people had died and hundreds were missing, did this story make the headlines? Not even close. Then, when five wealthy people go missing on June 18, 2023 in a Titanic submersible, it is plastered on the front page of every single news website- and wealthy countries are rushing in to help find the sub as soon as possible! The sub was later found to have undergone a catastrophic implosion after giving in to the immense pressures of the ocean above. This just shows how some people are above others in our society; two of the Titan passengers were billionaires, so they are getting tons of coverage, while the hundreds of families aboard the overcrowded migrant ship have been essentially forgotten.
